Interfaith is one of four agencies in Hutchinson looking for a VISTA member to serve in capacity building positions within the organization:

  1. Reno County Communities That Care Association (CTC)
Reno County Communities That Care Association (CTC) is a non profit organization whose mission is to promote healthy youth behaviors through mentoring, substance use prevention, strengthening families, and youth leadership.

The VISTA position will work with local community and volunteer organizations to recruit volunteers, build capacity of the organization, and implement evidence based strategies to reduce poverty and opioid misuse in Reno County.

  2. Reno County Drug Court
The Reno County Drug Court of the 27th judicial district is located in Hutchinson Kansas. It is a post-adjudication court that began in 2011. The Reno County Drug Free Alliance is the non profit branch of the Reno County Drug Court. The mission of the corporation is to reduce drug use and drug crimes in Reno County through activities including but not limited to community education and awareness and supporting community-based collaborations to ensure a drug free Reno County.

The VISTA member will assist the Reno County Drug Free Alliance Board Officers and the Reno County Drug Court Program Coordinator in planning, organizing and designing development-oriented resources to implement, expand, and diversify the organization’s stakeholder/funder stewardship. In addition, the VISTA will develop and collect a database on opioid misuse, overdose hospitalizations and deaths in Reno County. The VISTA member will help to identify and solicit potential stakeholders of the Reno County Drug Free Alliance. In addition, the VISTA member will help to collect data on opiate use among the target population that the Reno County Drug Free Alliance serves.

  3. Interfaith Housing & Community Services
Interfaith Housing & Community Services seeks to alleviate poverty and build community through housing assistance, financial education and individual empowerment. We envision communities where people have the knowledge and tools to achieve financial self-sufficiency, and access to housing that is affordable to their level of income, accessible to their level of need; where they can live in safety with dignity.

The VISTA position will work closely with the Director of Development and Marketing and the Fund Development Committee to build capacity of the organization through community engagement and donor acquisition. They will be engaged in developing and nurturing donor relationships as well as securing new donors. Through their work, they will expand both awareness and impact of Interfaith and their mission.

  4. United Way of Reno County
The mission of United Way is to improve lives in Reno County by mobilizing the caring power of our Reno County Community. United Way is working to advance the education, income and health of Reno County residents to ensure every child succeeds, every step of the way from cradle to career and beyond.

The VISTA member will help expand our community partnerships and secure long-term resources. They will assess the current state of United Way’s efforts in reaching, selecting, and supporting donors and create or revise processes and systems to improve the effectiveness and sustainability of donor recruitment and the current system in place. Also, they will develop a plan for activities and events that engage and connect our donors in the good work that we do.
